Executed in graphite pencil, my hand drawings are part of a large set titled ‘Connect’. Immaculately drawn to an almost photographic degree, my illustrations tap into the field of realism, which is evidenced by their emphasis on photographic techniques such as lighting, focus and blur which is then translated into a visual arts context.

When creating this collection of drawings, I was interested in hands as they represent who a person is. Our hands are our way of creating, working…. Living. They allow us to connect, show love, demonstrate aggression, inflict pain, care for others, take care of ourselves or even draw the most detailed of artworks. I believe a hand can be a symbol for how we relate to one another and connect.
