Kelly Allen prints originate from original oil paintings carefully hand painted in trompe l’oeil fashion to appear nearly identical to the collage sketches she created from her archive of hand-cut images.

Having worked in this fashion for the past four years, this body of work is an exploration in symbolism and the creation of meaning, while communicating the artist’s passion for nature.

Culling her images from second hand books and magazines, Allen seeks to transform forgotten images from everyday sources into totemic, potent compositions that speak to metaphysics and animal worship. Embodying themes of intuition, femininity, and ceremony, these works seeks to inspire the viewer with a sense of peacefulness and kinship with the natural world around us.
