Cameron James Cope is an image burglar, purveyor of words and frequent stowaway based in Melbourne.
He has an extensive background in travel editorial (Australian Geographic, International Traveller, The Weekend Australian, Get Lost Magazine) and holds a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University, where he runs contemporary travel photography workshops.
In 2014 Cameron was named Australian Travel Photographer of the Year by the Society of Australian Travel Writers, was twice a finalist in the Sydney/Australian Life national photographic prize (2013, 2016) and was a finalist in the Australian Photobook of the Year awards in 2018. His work is held in the permanent collection of the Melbourne Museum.
Via photobooks and print exhibitions, Cameron’s personal photography explores how the past is embedded in the present through visual allegory, narrative form and conceptual documentary.
Cameron is a fine art printing specialist and personally prepares all printed forms of his work to the highest archival standards.
