ANNIE DAVIDSON’S CACTI WONDERLAND HITS DEGRAVES July 04 2014

This July, we’re lucky enough to have Melbourne’s Annie Davidson’s fun-tastic artwork feature on our Degraves Street window.  To coincide with the installation, which involves numerous paper mache cacti(!!!) we’ve released 3 limited edition Annie Davidson prints.

I’m a freelance graphic designer and illustrator based in Melbourne. My work is inspired by old botanical prints, quirky picture books, beautiful gardens & landscapes, old family photos & Japanese woodblock prints. I mostly draw in fineliner, scan my image and colour it in photoshop so I can play with the colours until I get them right, because colour plays such a large part in creating the ‘feel’ to images. These prints are part of my ‘Travelling Whimsies’ series, an imaginary bunch of little nomadic creatures who travel around from place to place, stopping by to visit Japanese gardens, skip in the desert, hang out in tree-houses or just sit & watch shooting stars!
